Workshop

Engaging with youth often presents challenges for museums. On one hand, it involves bridging generational gaps among museum staff and transforming work processes; on the other, it requires effective communication with younger visitors.

Through student internships, experimental exhibitions, and fellowship programmes, museums are accumulating experience in working with young people — developing perspectives on future colleagues while cultivating tomorrow’s audiences.

  • What do Zoomers think about museums — their structure and audience engagement strategies?
  • What does “working in a museum” mean to younger generations?
  • What inspires young people about museum work, and what aspects do they find challenging?

For three days, students from Kazan State Institute of Culture and Lomonosov Moscow State University will explore the “backstage” of museum operations. Through panel discussions, expert presentations, networking sessions, and tours, participants will synthesize their insights into a media project to be presented during the final session.
