The modern world is transforming before our eyes, presenting museums and cultural institutions with new challenges. One of the most pressing tasks will be assisting in the social rehabilitation of participants and veterans of the Special Military Operation (SMO).
Offering free tours or establishing benefit systems is not enough to successfully assist former military personnel reintegrate into civilian life. Effective communication with veterans — particularly those with disabilities and traumatic stress — requires specialized skills and programmes, drawing upon both domestic and international expertise accumulated through decades of research.
What existing rehabilitation programmes worldwide could feasibly be adapted for Russian museums?
How should museum staff be trained to engage with SMO veterans, including those with PTSD? Does this require the hiring of new specialists like art therapists and clinical psychologists?
